Good Health and Well-being:3

Abbas Laghrour University in Khenchela seeks to promote good health and well-being through a variety of research and applied activities. These activities include research projects, academic publications, and outputs from research teams, all contributing to public health improvement and the development of healthcare services.

A. PRFU Research Projects

:Studies in Public Health

These studies focus on analyzing health indicators in the community, such as rates of chronic diseases, nutrition patterns, and access to healthcare. The goal of these studies is to understand local health challenges and provide evidence-based recommendations for improving health policies.

:PRFU Research Project: The Food Security Dilemma and Economic Advancement Stakes in Algeria

The PRFU research project titled "The Food Security Dilemma and Economic Advancement Stakes in Algeria" aims to study the risks, opportunities, and challenges associated with food security in Algeria, within a global context characterized by escalating crises. The project seeks to achieve theoretical objectives related to understanding the geopolitical dynamics of global crises and their impact on food security by analyzing the structure of the Algerian economy and the potential for opening up to investments instead of relying on rent-seeking

Additionally, it aims to provide a new research framework that reflects Algeria's position in the geopolitical landscape and enhances national security. Practically, the project focuses on linking research to the national vision for food security development while studying the implications of global crises on this vital area. By raising public awareness about the economic challenges and opportunities arising from food security, the project contributes to enhancing the shared understanding of security and economic issues in Algeria. Through these efforts, the PRFU project effectively contributes to achieving sustainable development and enhancing the competitiveness of the national economy.

:Research on Preventive Healthcare

These research efforts aim to evaluate the effectiveness of health awareness and education programs, such as vaccination campaigns and early disease screening. They also explore ways to promote healthy behaviors among individuals, contributing to the reduction of disease spread

:Healthcare Service Development Projects

These projects focus on improving the quality of healthcare services provided in medical institutions. Research includes evaluating healthcare practices and developing new service delivery models, such as telehealth, making it easier for patients in remote areas to access treatment

B. Faculty Publications

Research in Health Fields: Faculty members publish their research in local medical journals, including the Biotechnology, Water, Ocean, and Health Laboratory, which was established under ministerial decree No. 872 dated October 1, 2018. This contributes to the dissemination of medical knowledge and good health practices. These studies focus on pressing health issues within the community, raising awareness about the importance of public health

  • Study of the multiple forms of foreign detoxification genes to better understand the molecular rules of interaction between "environment, genetics, and cancer"
  • Study of the impact of environmental factors (environmental and occupational pollution) on the susceptibility to the emergence of multiple causative cancers
  • Exploration of the richness of medicinal plants endemic to biologically active molecules and assessment of their cytotoxic effects on cancer cell lines
  • Exploration of the richness of major crops in biologically active molecules and evaluation of their cytotoxic effects on cancer cell lines
  • Valuation and conservation of bio-geographical resources
  • Water, environment, and climate change
  • Biological and nutritional valuation of plant and animal resources
  • Biotechnology and environmental microbiology: Isolation and selection of microbial strains (bacteria, fungi, algae, etc.) that produce biologically active molecules, as well as attempts to use microorganisms and their metabolites (primary and secondary) for applications in the fields of agriculture, animal feed, environment, and therapy. Additionally, this team's trends also relate to the molecular mechanisms of microbial resistance to antimicrobial agents
  • Sustainable management of groundwater and surface water resources
  • Sustainable soil management and conservation
